We have arrived at the last weekend in May? How is that even possible? The weather is warm and most children are out of school. So that must mean summertime! These are the days that hold a lot of memory making and outside play time.
We had our weekly get together with my friend Lori and her children. We indulged in the most delicious homemade ice cream called Java Caramel Swirl and the best part? It is healthy! I got an electric ice cream maker last week and I have nearly used it everyday. I really feel no guilt eating ice cream everyday now.
Warm weather also means garage sale season and so far this year has started off really well. One of my finds is this plate rack that I picked up for $10.00 and ended up giving a little bit of a makeover.
At the same garage sale I was able to pick up an old water pump fountain. I bought it knowing that I would use it somewhere in my landscaping but wasn't quite sure just where it would go. I got home and started looking at my options. I realized that I had a galvanized tray that fit perfectly down into an old barrel that I had.
I secured the pump to a board that sits across the back of the galvanized tray. The pump that runs the water is hidden behind the rocks. It all fit together so perfectly. I didn't have to cut anything or do any kind of real hard assembly. I love when collected pieces come together!
I might possibly be going plant crazy. I added another Limelight Hydrangea to the planting mix for the deck. This is third one that I have planted but this one is smaller variety and perfect for containers. I am anxious to watch it bloom.
As for life updates my husband is covered in poison ivy. He is the mayor of our teeny tiny town and there are so many overgrown areas that need cared for. So he is working hard to start that process and needless to say he is miserable today. He never really complains and even preached this morning with his eye swollen nearly shut. I could never say how blessed I am to be his wife. He works hard to care for his family, his church and community.
The children are enjoying the laid back days of summer. Reading on the porch, swinging in the tree swing and lots of bike riding. The older ones are getting ready to attend summer camp and they always look forward to this time of the year with their friends. I have worked in our yard the past couple of years to attract wildlife and it finally seems to be working. There are several nests that we have been peeking in on a few times a week to watch the progress of eggs hatching. It is real life nature watching and we all enjoy it.
I hope you all have had a lovely week. Thanks for stopping by!
